Our Team

  • Jeremy Barnwell

A native Texan. Jeremy’s vision to feed and educate is the driving force behind Nourish Texas. Jeremy has been feeding kids in the Austin area for over 20 years.

With a background in farming and agriculture he brings close ties the community as well as a deep passion for sustainability and a non processed lifestyle.

This passion was used to start and build an organization designed to provide fresh, scratch made meals to schools and corporate facilities in Central Texas. This project has grown to serve more than 4000 meals weekly.

  • Alison Barnwell

Alison Barnwell has been an educator since 2002, with a focus on early literacy and specialized expertise in teaching students with dyslexia. She currently serves as a learning interventionist at St. Francis, working one-on-one with elementary and middle school students to build strong foundations in reading and learning.

In 2004, Alison and Jeremy founded Barnison Farm, originally a small chicken farm in East Austin supplying restaurants and farmers markets with locally raised poultry. Their shared passion for education and sustainable food led them to grow Barnison into a full-service catering company with a daily school lunch program and hands-on educational offerings like school gardens and cooking classes.

Throughout her career, Alison has taught in schools across the socioeconomic spectrum—from underserved communities to affluent districts—shaping her deep belief in food equity and education. Her work with Nourish Texas brings together a lifelong commitment to learning, sustainability, and community, helping ensure that all Texas families have regular access to fresh, nutritious meals and the knowledge to support healthy lives.

  • Jamie May

A Texas native, Jamie brings over 15 years of experience as an operations leader and advisor. Starting in the tech industry, she now serves as President and COO of Marcus Food Company— a company focused on making protein more accessible and sustainable, and reducing food waste at scale through improved supply chain efficiency.

Jamie’s passion for food system sustainability, waste reduction, and equity is what brought her to MFC and what drives her involvement with Nourish Texas. As a board member, she’s working to help advance the Nourish Texas mission to expand access to nutritious food and education.

“Building a better food system starts with community— I’m so excited to support Nourish’s mission to create healthier futures for Texas families”.

  • Cory Fritch

Cory was born and raised in central Florida, earning his Masters in History and Ethnography of Religion at Florida State. As a self-taught home chef, Cory realized he was always happiest when in the kitchen and feeding the people he loves. After working 7 days a week for multiple years, managing a local small business from 9-5 and cooking at restaurants in the evening and on weekends, he eventually switched to work only in the kitchen, becoming head chef of a wine tasting room’s kitchen and working for a critically acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida, that features a 5 acre farm on-site.

Cory loves working with seasonal and hyper-local ingredients, as well as making his own fermented hot sauce recipes with a large variety of peppers and flavors. He moved to Austin a few years ago and has loved how much he's learned about the culinary treasures of Texas!

He has applied these years of experience to feeding the children of Austin as the chef for one of Austin’s premier scholastic food service providers.

  • Aaron Vasquez
